We had a realization that there is a very childlike element to what we are doing on our Portland to Portland trip. In some ways… a child’s dream. It would go something like this if a child were blogging.
Today we got up early. Like really early. I had to set my alarm with 5 different alarms because of how stupid early we got up.
Breakfast was made for us… always is. Super yummy. We get to eat WHATEVER we want! All the sugary cereal you could imagine! It’s amazing!
Then, we find our friends and see if they want to go biking with us for the day. We tell them we’re going on an adventure and see if they want to come along. They’re like, ‘That sounds totally cool – let us come too!’. Mom and Dad always make sure our bikes are good and safe and ready for us to go. And, to make sure me and my friends are safe – they drive along close to us and check on us now and then. They tell us they are checking to see if we’re okay, but I’m sure they are wanting to see if we’re up to any mischief.
The super cool thing is that they set out rest stops with yummy food for us along the way. We get to drink all the soft drinks we want. They even put out fruit, but we usually dive in and go for the Oreos, peanut M&Ms, or the super yummy peanut butter filled pretzels. They also put out a whole bunch of granola bars and snacks that we can take with us. But, the best part – as many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as we can eat!
They usually try and give us healthier stuff for lunch. I suppose it’s better to eat a good meal somewhere in the day. But then we get to get back to the treat table in the afternoon for our rest stops then.
Me and my fiends love these days. We just ride and ride and ride. And we eat and eat and eat! It’s awesome!
Then when we finish for the day and put away our bikes, Mom and Dad let us lay around and do nothing until dinner is ready. And then after we eat, they tell us to go lay around some more. The good news for them, and for us, is that we’re already pretty tired, so that’s about all we want to do – that, and go to bed early.
Cycling is awesome. Everyone should do it!
